Can you help?

(1) Summer Reading Book Drive

We have partnered with Sedgefield Elementary School in Newport News to help provide summer reading books to rising 2nd graders.  It is important that we encourage our students and their families to read over the summer to help prevent the “achievement gap”.  We are hoping to supply the school with 85 new books from the reading list below so that each rising 2nd grader will have a start for the summer.  For more information on this book drive or to join the Education group, please contact Cameron Bell at 757-550-1877 or CBell@NewVirginiaMajority.org

(2) Give the Gift of Reading! Support Reentry Efforts!

We have partnered with the Hampton Sherrif’s Office to collect books for those incarcerated at the Hampton City Jail and the Hampton Community Corrections Center.  We have collected over 1000 books but we need more to help renew their library’s selections.  Please see below for suggested genre’s and these books can be gently used paperbacks.  For more information or to join the Criminal Justice Group, please contact Darius Swift at 757-690-1533 or DSwift@va-bloc.org
