On This Day in History: Irene Morgan

Irene Morgan refused to give up her seat on a bus going from #Virginia into Maryland in 1944. When she was handed an arrest warrant, she tore it into pieces and tossed it out of the window. Two years later, the NAACP took up her case & the Supreme Court ruled that the state bus segregation laws were invalid. However, many southern states refused to enforce this decision, and this led to the freedom rides. To read more about this historic event, go to the link below.
