Local General Elections are May 1, 2018

DID YOU KNOW? At any given time, there are at least 15 elected officials that make decisions about your everyday life. You have a say in who they are!

 

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER:

May 1st Local Elections

*3/17/18 In-Person Absentee Voting begins

*4/9/18 – Deadline to register to vote/update existing information for May 1st Election 

*4/24/18 – Deadline to request an Absentee Ballot by mail by 5pm

*4/28/18 – Deadline to Vote In-Person Absentee by 5pm

*5/1/18 – Local Elections – Polls open 6am-7pm

Important Precinct Changes!

Newport News:  If you vote at Jefferson Precinct, you will go back to voting at the Marshall Courts Rec Center for the General Election.  If you have any questions, call the Newport News Voter Registrar’s Office at 757-926-8683. (Updated 3/30/18)

Hampton: If you used to vote at East Hampton Precinct at the Woodlands Golf Courthouse, you will now vote at Phoebus High School on 100 Ireland St.  If you have any questions, call the Hampton Voter Registrar’s Office at 757-727-6218.

 

Acceptable Photo-ID For Election Day: Did you know you can get a FREE Photo ID from the Voter Registrar if you don’t have one of the listed ID’s or if you have one and it’s expired?!  Click for more info: http://elections.virginia.gov/registration/photo-ids-required-to-vote/ 

 

Find Who Your Current Representatives Are & Contact Them! Make sure your representatives have heard from you on your issues and concerns! Also drop them a line when things are going well!      http://whosmy.virginiageneralassembly.gov/

 

Restoration of RightsRestoring your rights is an important step in your reentry!  You can go online to restore.virginia.gov to request your rights be restored or to check the status of your request.  If you have any issue you can contact Revive My Vote at (844) 932-8683 for help with your restoration of rights process.

  1. Do you any information of college student living overseas for the semester voting by email. The office has sent an email but I checked the voter record and the ballot has not been logged in yet?

      • Thank you for checking. I did check also. I have contact the voter office. She must send (overnight) the printed ballot (4 pages) to the Hampton office by Monday. I hope she is willing to do that. The Hampton office has been very good in assisting me and my daughter through the overseas process.
